My Internet Highlight of the Week

August 3rd, 2009 marked a memorable occasion: The day Penguin acknowledged me on Twitter. At the time, being acknowledged by Penguin on Twitter was like shaking a celebrity’s hand for me. It gave me a euphoric, giddy high. Over the past couple of years, there have been a few other times where I have had the same exciting feeling of going out in the world and rubbing shoulders with people I admire.

I received a similar thrill a couple of weeks ago when I visited Diaspora Dialogue’s website. I’ve been an avid follower of this Toronto-based arts organization since I happened upon it a couple of years ago. Imagine my surprise when I visited their site and saw they linked to one of my YorkScene articles. I was shocked and giddy. I print-screened it and saved it. It made my day.

How awesome is it to admire an organization for so long, only to find your name on the top of their homepage one day? Very awesome!

Nerd Girl Pinups: Bang! Bonanza

FanExpo 2010: Recap

My apologies for the delay in getting this article online. I attended the FanExpo for the first time this year and it was an unbelievable experience. I had to spend the entire first week after the FanExpo trying to recuperate from the convention’s activities! And I’m not the only one I know who has fallen ill from Expo exertion! Now that I’m fully recovered, however, and I’ve had time to gather my thoughts, below is a play-by-play of the Expo as I experienced it.

NGP Reviews: Settlers of Catan & Acquire

Though both are a slight variation of material that can already be found on MiaHerrera.com, if you’re feeling for some traditional gaming reviews check out my reviews of Settlers of Catan and Acquire on NerdGirlPinups.com. As things progress and I free up more time for writing, I definitely hope to get some new material out there – perhaps even some themed game night tips (January’s jam of Bang! inspired food and clothes was super fun).

This post is a tad bit overdue, but I recently started writing for NerdGirlPinups.com – an awesome site for girls who are nerds and proud of it. Currently you can find my profile posted online (along with a very pixelated, poor quality photo of me) and my first introductory post reviewing Gloom.
